I downloaded and installed the latest software for my Win7 Prof PC. After I connect my TT XXL and turn it on, the MyTomTom application does not see my device. Any advice what may me wrong? I am a computer guy and tried may things but cannot figure this one out.

You can't use myTomTom (it's only supported by the newest TomTom models). You need TomTom HOME instead: http://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/services/tomtom-home/#tab:tab3

I have downloaded and installed Tomtom home last night   then restarted my PC. . Connected tomtom XL and turned it on, nothing happens except windows wants to scant the XXL which I cancel. Then. tomtom home says "no device connected"

I use Windows 7.  What can I do? It seem that I am not alone in this

Touch wood TomTom Home works in Windows 7 for me. Does the TomTom actually ask to connect to a computer.

Also did you see any "Installing New Hardware" as you generally do when you play somthing new into Windows

Hi  I was finally able to install TomTom home and that has recognized the device, it is currently backing up . How can I update my TT with the Packets I have  purchased the day before yesterday but I have not downloaded them yet. Will my TT see the purchased  maps and speedcameras?

If you purchased them online using your TomTom account Log in using this in TomTom Home. The maps should then be downloaded and installed

You need Mytomtom with that model, not Home.

    Get it at tomtom.com/getstarted

Nothing. Both computers were windows 7. I do not have the original USB cord, is it important?

In theory, any usb cord should work but, in reality, it indeed may make a difference. Try to avoid a usb3 slot on your computer. If you connect to the computer with the device off and then turn it on, do you hear the 'clunk' sound Windows makes when external hardware is detected?

No clink, no nothing. I've tried it on my laptop windows 8. and my tower windows 7 computer.

I suspect it's a cable problem. When you connect to the computer, does Windows see it as an external drive? Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds unless your model has a dedicated reset hole.
