Hi all,

It has come to our attention that a number of our customers have received emails purporting to be from Apple and telling users that they have purchased an auto-renewing subscription for a TomTom Navigation Product. An example of the email received (shown on an iPhone) is shown below:

If you receive such an email please do not click on any of the links that it contains as they will send you to a fake website designed to capture your AppleID information.

The issue has been reported to Apple and together we will make every effort to stop these emails from being distributed.

Regards,

the TomTom Community Team

One of our users has kindly shared the response they received from Apple when reporting the issue. We would encourage you to follow these instructions if you have received a suspicious email that claims to have been sent to you by Apple:

If you still have the email, please forward it to reportphishing@apple.com so we can investigate it. When you forward it, make sure you provide complete headers from the original email.

Forwarding the message with complete header information provides Apple with important information. To do this in OS X Mail, select the message and choose Forward As Attachment from the Message menu. For other email applications or webmail based services, consult your provider’s support information to determine how to forward messages with complete headers.

If the email contains links or attachments, don't open them. Please note that Apple may not respond to you, but necessary actions will be taken.

For your information, we’ll only send you an email asking you to verify an email address in these situations:

    • When you first set up an account
    • Immediately after you add or change a contact address on an Apple ID

Also, an email from us will never ask you for your password, Social Security Number, or full credit card number.

For more information related to phishing and suspicious emails, including some actions you can take against them, see this page:
