Hi All,

We have released an update to the TomTom Bandit Studio, you should be notified that an update is available the next time you open the program. You can also download it from http://tomtom.com/cam.

• It is now easier and faster to add highlights to your video story. In the thumbnail screen, you can now also simply recognise the highlights that are already included in your video story.
• You can now use the new play head in the time-bar to see the exact moments in the highlight preview screen.
• We have included an arrow to the Trailblazer overlay that shows the direction of your movement on the GPS trace.
• We have improved the fonts and overall visualisation of the overlays.

As we are still in Beta, please let us know your thoughts and experiences using the new version of the Studio!

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris, I do love my Bandit! Thanks for the new udate which offers good improvements like the new play head. Nevertheless I miss the option to include the whole video as one highlight or expand a highlight by one click to the whole clip. Thank you!
Hi, Thanks for the great updates! I seem to have trouble with the automatic update feature (Mac version). When I select "Update now" in the notification dialog, the application package is replaced in the /Applications folder, but the new app package has 0 bytes size. I do my daily work under a non-admin user. Might this be a problem?

Edit: The download link still seems to point to the old 1.3.56.54 version.
Workaround that finally worked for me:

I moved the app package out of the write-protected /Applications folder to a folder my non-admin user can write to (my home directory), then I launched the app from there and hit the update button again. This was successful.

For some strange reason, trying to update while logged in as admin (with the app still residing in /Applications) did not work.

Maybe a bug report for the software department? Check if user has write permissions in the applications folder and if not show admin authentication dialog?
Hi Chris,

It would be great if we could add an entire clip to the timeline, and cut it and delete sections as needed 🙂
Hi guys,

Thanks for the great update.
I do have some issues of frequent app crashes when launching it and it index the already downloaded video data.
I'm using a Macbook Pro Early 2011, 2.7 i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, OS X El Capitan 10.11.6
Being able to use an entire clip as a "highlight" would be great; along w/ changing what is highlighted (if it's not already available - I gave up after not being able to use an entire clip as a highlight & just used other software). This feature is particularly useful for someone who is using the video more for analysis than montage (aka automotive racing as an example).

I have both this unit & the garmin virb elite. The video on the tom tom is better, but the garmin makes displaying data much easier, so I currently still use that one as the primary camera.
Hey all your Bandits out there !!!
Wow what a lekker product the TomTom Bandit is - Great stuff !!! - I'm still a newbie though to my action camera :-)).
What would be really great is to have the option to add different music to a story and to also fade in and out at the beginning and end and maybe in between ??? Will that be possible ??? ......... Pwetty Pleeeeeeeeeease :-)))))
Hi Chris, I'm having problems with updating Bandit Studio. It says there is a new update (my version is 1.1.52.40) but when I push the update button nothing happens.....I have a mac OS X El Capitan versie 10.11.6 Can you help me out??
Groetjes,
Karin
Here I am again, I have an update downloaded now from the website and it is installed, the version is 1.3.56.54 so still not the latest version. I tried to update that but again nothing happens.
How do I get the latest version??
Groetjes nogmaals!

Hi. I have the TomTom Bandit and really like the camera but the software really sucks. Why can't it give me an option to just take my whole video, add my overlays and create it without highlights and nonsense. The highlights are like max 15 seconds so I have to highlight an entire video constantly and auto highlights does not keep in line with my video. Really disappointing. I normally use Dashware which will import the GPX file which I have referenced to 3 or 4 days ago in the Dashware thread but no reply. Why be able to import but then not see information like speed and heart rate in my video on Dashware? Where's the support? Please reply with some form of assistance or via e-mail. Version of the app on my iMac is 1.4.58.57.
Amazing. No answers to all your customers. I have started adding my own reviews on local online stores to prevent people buying this product directing people to note the product is great but software and support is terrible. Come on guys! Support those of us who support you buy purchasing the product!!

Hi Don46,

Sorry for the delay in response!

Are you using the TomTom Heart Rate Monitor with the camera to get the HR data? Were you wearing the HRM at the time of connecting it to the Bandit?

You can't add the full video file as Bandit Studio is designed to edit together highlights and not full whole video. We have the public FAQ to address this: Long recordings

However, there is a workaround here: https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/beta-tomtom-bandit-studio-478/tomtom-bandit-studio-beta-995228/index1.html#post1054509 and https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/tomtom-bandit-studio-beta-478/tomtom-bandit-studio-beta-995228?postid=1070743

Also, this is a public forum wherein users support users. We're here to monitor the discussions and randomly we do post replies but it would be really difficult for us to post replies to every query posted. Please let us know the improvements you want to see in the Bandit Studio and will pass it on to the product team! 🙂

Cheers,

Thank you for your response lampard and my apologies for the late reply.

Yes I was wearing the HR belt which is in the data file and works fine with TomTom Bandit Studio except for the fact that that videos are highlights and you have keep extending highlights to make one video. So a 10 minute video made as one highlight is lengthened in time by 15 seconds or so at a time. This means to make one highlight one video with overlays added once, one has to continuously edit the highlight to "stretch" the timeline.

The *.gpx data file imports into Dashware but does not import correctly as I have no GPS positioning nor HR data that is workable to synchronise my position, heart rate and video. I have contacted Dashware who have a relationship with GoPro and told me to contact TomTom. When I said I am getting no joy here, they suggested I contact GoPro which would probably not be very helpful - just think about that lol...

As far 4GB files I'm aware of this and how the FAT/FAT32 file systems work. This is not my issue with highlights only videos.

The first forum link about highlights and stretching it is what I already know and it's very time consuming.

The second forum link about highlights being stretched sounds great. Is that on a Windows PC? I'm using Mac but can try on a PC too.

Quick question, my issue is a longstanding issue for other people with the same product. Why can't TomTom developers just improve the software to give an option of making a video with highlights or without?

Hi Don46,

The Bandit Camera is currently geared towards easily making short compilations of highlights but you can always use the 2nd method above to prolong the videos.

I'll log your feedback as an improvement request for the product team to review.
