easiest way is simply to use some other editor, but you will lose the metrics...

I fear the only way now with tomtom's app is to
    - add a highlight (or select an existing one)
    - edit highlight several times until it is the total length of the clip
    - insert in story
note that inserting highlight in story and then edit the highlight can lead to issues, so avoid doing that.

in case you are using bandit studio, it can be a little faster:
    - add a highlight (or select an existing one)
    - insert highlight in story
    - go to story editor and pull handles until you see the entire clip.
note that it's more easily done if there are highlights after the one you try to edit...

Yes, it's currently only possible to add highlights to the timeline, however as gl00 points out you can adjust the length of highlight up to the maximum length of the video it is from. The Bandit Studio is still in Beta and this request has been passed to the team.

Recently bought the Bandit and very happy with the unit however the software does let it down, I know its Beta but having to extend highlights to create a full video takes ages. Also I found that if you import more than 1 video clip from the sd card then click on highlights it lists all the highlights from all imported clips making navigation a difficult, im having to import one clip at a time delete all the highlights then start again with new highlights. It would be easier to be able to select a clip then show highlights for that clip only. Also to be able to add the entire movie to the story then add an overlay would save tons of time and make the app much much better. A great camera though cant wait for the software updates.

I am also struggling with one imported video, it is 3.55min in length. I have deleted all the highlights from that clip then added one highlight, added that highlight to my story. then gone the stretch the highlight out in mystory to extend the video to its full length of 3.55min but the maximum I can extend the highlight to is 110 seconds, not sure why this is.

Hi DaveKaye, we are still making improvements to the Bandit Studio Beta, we will soon add improvements to how the videos and highlights are shown and ordered to improve this. You don't need to delete highlights if you only want to add one, just click on Add Highlights instead of I feel lucky and you can just manually add one highlight to your timeline. To extend the length of the highlight to the full length of the video you need to drag in both directions, I'm guessing that you are only seeing a maximum of 110 seconds because that's the length of time between the start of the highlight and the end of the video. To see the portion of the video that takes place before the highlight you need to drag it to the left.

Thanks for that Chris, ive been successful in extending the highlight to include the full length video but it takes a long time as the timeline can not be reduced in size so you cant see the full length on the screen, i have to keep on dragging the highlight as my curser disappears off the screen, hope this makes sense. ive included a video showing what i have to do.

I was expecting to be able to select several videos from the Videos screen, Click My Story and then ONLY those selected would be imported for me to work with. My trip home of 1hr was automatically cut into 4 videos by TomTom - never clicked highlight, start/stop. That was surprising in and of itself - but not being able to create a story on my Mac with only the clips I want is a major issue.

    Thanks,

Hi KW1M, recordings being split into smaller files is something unfortunately we have no control over as this is a limitation of recording directly to Micro SD cards. To improve this we have introduced a new feature in the software that now means that multiple videos from the same recording are grouped together and are in chronological order.

You can add whatever clips you want to the timeline by adding the highlights, you can manually adjust the length of a highlight or when it begins and ends and if there are no highlights at the part of the video you want to use then you can add a manual highlight while playing the video back in the Bandit Studio

I have simillar issue, video is 25 min long, I wanted to export whole video with overlay, but I'm not able to add a highlight which would be that long. I have added the highlight at the beginning of the movie, unfortunately I am able to expand it only to a maximum value of 14 seconds.

I'm a bit disappointed, I bought this cam because of sensors, and all I can do is no is to export 20 seconds clips, add overlay to each of them and export :(

UPDATE: I'm able to extend highlight length in a story editor, the only problem is with timecode - it should be possible to zoom it out .

Hi ekonom, if you have one video of 25 minutes but can only extend by 14 seconds, I would guess that maybe that's because your highlight is either 14 seconds into the video or 14 seconds before the end. You need to drag the both the start of the highlight to the left and after the highlight to the right to see the full video.

Same here, I've had the camera for a year now, but the everlasting beta software keeps me from using it more than I would like to. After a few days of cycling I imported a substantial amount of video footage. However, the software does not let me choose which movies I would to use for creating a story, or better, more stories. I can only create a story by the automated highlights so ALL movies are selected and used. Only then, in the story I can start deleting what I don't need.....
Other than that, it would benefit user friendliness if the timescale is zoomable, titles could be inserted, audio could be faded and movies can be inserted in an existing story. Nice to have would also be insertion of text(balloons)...
There's plenty more that is suggested throughout the forum, but user friendliness by selectable footage for a story and scalable timeline would be a good start.

Hi all. Just started to use the bandit.. Dissapointed to see that the highlights is the only way to get a Movie going WITH the GPS data. I intended to have it on my bike and make a full day of recording (connected to an external battery). If I have understood it correctly the way to do it would be to sit and scoll in the recorded video until I find a piece that I want to save and mark it as a highlight. And do so through the whole lenght of the Movie. And the go back to my story and edit the lenght of the highlights to get the full highlight and the enter the geo data on each highlight.... But now as I wrote that I relize that is the same thing I do with the whole lenght virb video. First save if from the camera and then cut the nice clips out to jon them to a full lenchgt Movie... So It's very similar to the work I do on the garmin virb I have on the opposit side of the bike.. the difference there is that I don't need to enter the geo data on every tag. . Going to use it for a couple of Days to try it out and then see if thats the way I want to work or not.

In addition, after having completed the full movie in the end, the movie file is not recognised by normal video editing software (I use iMovie on my Mac). Another downturn and the beta keeps going on...
