Hello, because it is winter time, as you all know there are a few limitations of having wrist based HR sensor. I have to have the watch on my skin for it to work and that means in low temperatures I have to expose my wrist to cold to be able to operate the watch. Also, because of cold my hands tend to get cold sometimes which leads to bad blood flow and consequently inaccurate heart rate readings.
So I am considering of getting a chest strap HR monitor, particularly the Polar H7 (or maybe h10 - since it is coming out soon), but I would like to be sure it is compatible with Adventurer. I read somewhere there was no way to connect H7 with Cardio watches.
Anyone uses it, I mean the Polar H7 with Adventurer already? And is the battery performance any better because of the wrist sensor turned off?
I remember there being issues with the H7 a few years ago but they were all resolved via updates as far a I know. Any BT HR strap should work, but any special features in it like stride analysis will be ignored. I use my optical sensor all winter with no issues. I make sure I am warmed up and have the watch on for awhile before I start and just keep my sleeve over the watch and my gloves on and just pull back the sleeve if I want to see the watch and generally get good readings. As to battery power, you will see a small increase with the optical sensor turned off as it is a battery draw, although not nearly to the extent of music or backlight.
