TomTom Sports 10.0.2 and Android 9 Pie


Hello,

My phone (Pixel 2) has been updated to Android 9 Pie yesterday.
The TomTom Sports 10.0.2 app is not working anymore.

When I launch the app, the regular screen is displayed but I can't do anything.
The app crashes several seconds after.

I tried to reinstall/clear the cache/clear the data but I still have the problem.
The "funny" thing is that when I reinstall, the app works fine during the watch set up and even after. But if I close the app I launch it for the second time, it crashes again.

Do you have the same problem ?

I would send the logs but I have no idea how to get them !

I tried again this morning and everything works fine. Without any Tomtom update !
Maybe an update of a component of Android fixed that...

So weird but good news !

I doubt anything will be done to update the app to newer versions Android since TT has left the wearables market and ceased any development of the watches. At the very least it will be many months until there are enough phones with Pie on it (right now there is one model with it) that use MySprots to justify the effort in programming it (again, which is doubtful considering they are no longer in the business). I am afraid you may be limited to computer syncing go forward.

I imagine this is not what you were hoping to hear but let me know if this answered your question. If so, please mark it as a solution so other can look for it if they have the same question.

I'm not sharing your pessimistic vision.
Even if they are leaving the wearables market, if they want to sell their remaining items, they'll have to maintain their app a couple of years at least.

Maybe they'll fix that all together. I hope...

That is good to hear. Is a solution to the battery drain issues other than reverting back to 1.3.255 going to be coming any time soon?

The battery drain issue remains a tricky one but we're still trying to fix it.
Wait wait wait ! This topic is about Android 9 compatibility 😉

I'm glad to hear that the future operating systems will be supported. Great news !

But about the crash on Android 9, have you some update about an upcoming update ?
Do you need more clear explanations from me ?
Maybe some logs ?

Hi, I have a Pixel 2 with the most recent updates, same for the TomTom Sports App. For unknown reasons, the app keeps shutting down everytime I try to open it. No error codes or messages. Can't sync my TomTom adventurer watch.

Anyone else experiencing this problem with the app?

I've had the same bug for a while, and I just figured out the trick. I'm also using a Pixel 2 XL on Android 9. I found that my watch was still stored under Bluetooth -> Previously Connected Devices. When I deleted that, cleared the cache, and cleared the storage I got the app working again.
