iPhone 5s sync: enough problems!

Userlevel 1
Hi,

I've just bought TomTom Runner 2 Cardio Music two days ago, and I'll probably return it tomorrow.

Since I've bought, I cannot not sync with my iPhone 5s. The only sync was made once, after almost 2 hours deleting app, reseting watch, etc. I've read the most forums and seems unbelievable so many users with the same problem and not a solution found yet.

Ten minutes ago, I've done the following procedures:
- reset the watch
- deleted the app from iPhone
- turn off and on the iPhone
- installed app
- turn on bluetooth
- started app searching watch
- started watch searching iPhone

and nothing!

I'm very frustrated! I've been working with Garmin for so many years and never had such problem.

Any idea?
(a few hours for returning this!)

Thank you.

Finally, I've found a way to work around.

Let's assume we are at the main screen (hours). If we click on top button, it starts searching for headphones.
And it seems bluetooth has a boost "attitude" and the watch appears on iPhone.

So, with bluetooth on (at iPhone) and TomTom Mysports app open: if you click on top button (like described previously) it starts sync.

Regards

Ricardo

Olá 🙂

I also have an iPhone 5s (although my watch is a Spark but I guess it's the same) and sometimes it takes a bit to sync.
My suggestion is:
- activate Bluetooth on the phone
- Open MySports app
- Go to the phone, Down --> Phone and set Sync --> ON.
- Go back to clock screen.

Now wait for a bit. It shoud start to sync after some seconds. I'm on iOS 9.2.1 if that matters.
Mine is kinda stubborn some times 😛 but it *always* sync'ed since I started to use it...

Olá 🙂

Thank for your reply.
Unfortunately, after all these tests, I even can not pair as a new watch.

Almost giving up...

Then I don't know 😞

I guess I was lucky because I've been reading all kinds of issues with the watch and the phone/computer/bluetooh headset/you-name-it but mine has worked flawlessly since day one (well, it kinda crashed the other day but it came back to life after some minutes 😛 )

I guess you should call Customer Support
https://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/contact/locale/en_GB
But that would require you to do an international phone call to the UK (ouch!)
You can always try the email option but I guess it won't work out so quickly.

Anyway all I can say is that in my case it worked easily and flawlessly. Reading some other topics --> https://en.discussions.tomtom.com/spark-and-runner-2-473/tomtom-spark-some-first-impressions-doubts-and-suggestions-994418?postid=1059117
it seems that touching the watch key "speeds up" the communication, maybe that's why it usually works like I told you before

Thanks for your time!

We've been, both, wasting too much time writing text about a topic that should be 100% working.

I'll return this tomorrow. Don't have any more patience to support this!

Thanks for all the help.
You're welcome 😉

When you reset the watch or delete the app you need to delete the watch from the phone's BT list before you can pair it again. Remove the phone from the BT list by telling it to forget the device then open the app and start the pairing process. I have a 5S and have never had any pairing issues following these steps.

Hi,

I've already done it. The watch does NOT appear on iPhone either.
So time wasted...

Thanks

Ricardo,

Now I'm confused. Did you have a problem with pairing the watch with your iPhone, or just a problem with ‘automatic’ syncing (after the devices have been paired, which only needs to happen successfully once) not being triggered?
Userlevel 1
Hi,

To be honest, I had both.
Only after "boosting" bluetooth, it start appearing on iPhone. And also start sync.

Thanks.
Excellent thank you for the solution - it was driving me nuts!

great device otherwise just wish they had this one documented under support - simple enough to catpure and share with Iphone users you would think!

Happy user now - cheers
