Hi all,

Today we released a new version 1.8.52 application update of the Runner and Multisports watches

This is a phased release only offered to a few users right now.

What's new?

• You can now create a custom race on your watch so that you can race a specific distance or time.

• We have improved Android 6.0 compatibility.

• For some languages the translations have been improved.

• Various performance improvements and bug fixes have been implemented.

Cheers
Vikram

Update: As you have noticed it's been 7 days since the announcement and not everybody has been offered the update. The reason for suspending the phased rollout, is that we've found a bug which, under specific circumstances, result in the phone connection not working correctly.
We are currently working on an update to MySports Connect to fix the bug, so we can continue the rollout. Meanwhile we suggest that, if you have problems with the phone connection, you should factory reset the watch which will revert it back to 1.8.46.
The update to MySports Connect is expected within the next week.

This is awesome, thank you ... could you please shed some light on when people might get this update? Are we talking days/weeks/month? I'm happy to be a tester 🙂

The update for the Spark and Runner2 watches is also being phased and that say it is over a few days. I am not sure that they are using the same approach here, but it would make sense that they are the same. As I understand it, it is already through beta testing, which is why it is getting a public release finally.

Is this feature also available on the Spark? I've just upgraded from the Multisport Cardio to the Spark Cardio (to get 24/7 HR), and this feature would be very much welcome on the Spark as well.

That feature has been available on the Spark for a while. Go into Run mode and press down and select Training>Races>Custom and set your time and distance.

Oh is that how it works! *mind blown* I use the Race feature a lot, but have only raced my previous runs and the ones in My Sports, I've never even noticed the "Custom" function (probably because my Multisport didn't have it)

THANK YOU
Will look forward to this

It is a phased rollout, so it will take a few days to reach everyone (and I don't think the weekends count towards the days). You will get it eventually and will be alerted when you plug the watch in to your PC. You can't force it or hurry it along, we all need to wait our turn.
Has the new version got a "countdown" option?
It´s very simple and i don´t understand why don´t have this option... 😞
thanks!!
still waiting for the update.....

No it does not. All that was added was what was listed above.

A moderator posted on another thread that they temporarily halted updates to resolve some technical issues. They should have started back up today, so it may still be a few days.
Mine started downloading the software update when I got home and plugged it in at 9:30pm GMT(Runner watch). I briefly left it to update, returned and it says up-to-date, however it's still only the 1.8.46 version. So much for that. It still doesn't update or bring the pop-up box back up if i disconnect and re-connect it.

Update: It looks as if it may have been the PC program updating rather than the watch - a new version was also released today.
How can I update my watch firmware (1.8.45) to the newly released 1.8.52 version?

Can you tell me please what exactly was improved in the compatibility, because my phone still can't connect to the Multisport. The same issue as more or less 6 moths ago. WRONG PIN OR PASSKEY ultra annoying by now message that makes no sense whatsoever.

I wonder in fact what your whole Multisport department is doing to solve this issue for half year, because still they have done absolutely nothing, while people who trusted tomtom screaming for help almost daily. There are complains about the issue on this forum with no, even a simple "hey we know the issue we're working hard to solve it (obviously you don't)" reply or any other whatsoever.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your reply. You didn't answer to my question though.
What exactly was improved in the the Android 6.0 compatibility.
Also follow-up why does it take you so long to fix this?

I have the update on my watch since this morning and it still doesn't connect to my Android 6.0.

Did you try to factory reset yourself and it worked? If you suggest that I believe that you did! What kind of phones did you try it on? What Android builds did it work on for you? Because on mine factory reset doesn't work.

Thank you in advance!

They announced in another post that they halted the rollout because the update did not fix the problem for all users. They are releasing a Connect update today and will then restart the rollout with the corrected update.

By the way, they are closed on weekends so the boards are unmoderated during that time so no one from TT will be getting back to you over the weekend.
Tomtom, this is my first gps cardio watch. I read the specs, I saw the reviews, I saw the advertising, I believed and then I bought it. Now, after reading all the posts in this forum and also being subjected to the same problem everybody here has (for half a year apparently)... I will not hesitate to do not recommend this product to anybody else.

Because, it makes no sense, to buy high-end gps cardio watch, that does not connect to a high-end mobile phone with the latest android version!!!

It is like saying, "buy our watch but when it comes to mobile phones, go back to the cave age".

Really disappointed.

I just hope this issue is being escalated inside Tomtom so that Supervisors, Directors and VPs can understand what we customers, are receiving as a product!

This is not bad just for us... it is bad for you too. And your competitors may be smiling!!!

This is solved in the update that is rolling out this week.
I m really happy to hear that. Man, it is nothing personal, sorry for the words. But you are also a customer and I m absolutely sure, you understand us. Glad to hear you guys are working hard to fix this once and for all.

Kind Regards.
Has anyone actually received the update. I'm still waiting for my multisport cardio to update. Been waiting months for Bluetooth fix!
