Hello,

I have my bike setup for indoor cycling and have followed the threads about using the watch where you have no GPS signal to get Distance and Cadence, but you can't get past the "Please Wait" while it tried to sync before you start your workout ?
Can you simply put the watch in Airplane mode to "Disable GPS" or does this also disable BT ?
Is there some way to Block the GPS signal of disable it ?

Thanks,
Don

There is no way to use the original MultiSport for indoor cycling as it is only designed for outdoor use. It requires GPS to get a start lock and even if you can get GPS indoors it will then use GPS for distance and speed, overriding the speed sensor. If you want indoor cycling you need to upgrade to one of the newer Spark watches which include a dedicated indoor cycling mode. It is not being added to the MS, which are 4 years and multiple generations old.

I imagine this is not what you were hoping to hear but let me know if this answered your question. If it did, please mark it as a solution so other can look for it if they have the same question.

    Hello tfarabaugh,

First, thank you for responding, I know this is a dead horse, but I hoped there was a Sneak around.

If this is considered a Dead product at TomTom are their open API's that would allow one to tinker with a dead unsupported product?

( Although I marked your post to this thread as a "solution" we all know it isn't but this topic is not going anywhere ;) so we can let it go. Which is not to say I won't stop trying to getvitvto work somehow )

    Thanks again for the reply,
    Don

    Woo Hoo !

Used the watch indoor today as usual on the Cycle trainer ( I get a GPS signal in the basement ) When I connected it to Sync - there was an Update - downloaded it and I have cycled Distance !!! and a Cool Heart rate colored setting !

Updates that provide some value like this Encourage brand loyalty vs. driving the customer base Away when it comes time to look for a replacement.

    Thank you TomTom.

What were you using for distance, a cadence/speed sensor? In my experience it didn't give distance when connected to GPS when on a trainer, but maybe they changed something.

Yes - same setup as if I were outside - ( its the same bike but on a trainer w/ Cadence + Wheel Sensor ) I'll bet the data was always there they just weren't using it.
A total guess - but they might have been doing some correlation between the GPS data( have you moved ) and the data from the wheel rotation ?
I'll see if it works again tomorrow.

The Saga continues - So today - I tried to follow the same routine as the other day - on the bike - start the watch -vs. walking around waiting for it to sync.
The other day ( with distance) - I had No GPS data
Previous days ( we it tracked No Distance traveled ) it would track some movement via GPS - as I walked around waiting to sync.
The day I had Distance tracked for the *ride* - there was NO GPS movement data,
today there was GPS tracking - No Distance - Boo hoo...
