Hi, I'm hoping somebody can help me with my problem. I have a TomTom One, and use it for directions etc to jobs. Recently, when typing in an address, I found I was unable to enter letters. Example, if I try to type the word "Hunchy" the first letter that comes up is the letter "G" which is located beside the "H", same applies if I try to type "P", I get the letter "O", etc. So basically I'm saying I get the letter beside the one I want. Is this a resetting issue or is the unit requiring a more costly repair? Thanks in advance.

    Certainly try resetting the unit.

I have a similar problem. When I touch the screen the unit thinks I am touching the line above. I couldn't go back or cancel. Eventually I reset it and now I am greeted by the Initial screen which wants me to touch the Agree button - ofcourse I can't so it's permanently stuck. What can I do?

I was able to get through to tomtom's helpline(50 minutes on hold), and was told the unit needs to be returned to the repair centre to be recalibrated. As luck would have it, its a month out of warranty.

No, but I'll try that first, thankyou. Nothing ventured......

The repairers want $60 upfront as an assessment fee before they fix it.

Might be worth just replacing it with new one if it comes to that as it sounds like it might be expensive.

There is another thread which links to another forum that has exemplary information on how to recalibrate your screen. I'll dig up the link when I get home tonight. I followed the instructions and though I was vague as to what coordinates to enter I managed to improve the calibration so that I can atleast get by. It needs more work but it'll do for now.

TimTam, That'd be great, thanks for that. I'd like to give that a try, I tried the card around the edge and it didn't work.

Just wondering if you had any luck with re-booting your GPS?  I am having the same issue with not being able to push letters and the bottom row (mostly the DONE button).  Thanks

Rebooting doesn't help. Try the instructions at the link that I've posted above and you should see some improvement.

I had the same problem with my in dash unit. After calibrating the screen, the problem was fixed. You might look in the menu and see if there is a screen calibration setting..
