Yes, you can charge your TomTom via Car charger, Wall Charger, or USB cable.

Does continuously charging my TomTom, when not in use, shorten its battery's total life? I was told, by my mobile device provider, not to continuously charge that device, once fully charged.

The general rule is you want to fully charge the battery and then you want to use the battery.  :smileywink:

Can you help? My TomTom One will not stay charged beyond 2 hours in spite of being plugged in my cig outlet in the car and being plugged in for 10 hours with the wall charger the nite before I want to use it. Excellent on short trips, but of little use on long trips.

    Is there a solution?

    Thanks.

Tap the satellite bars in the bottom right corner of your device's driving view. You should get a Status Summary screen. In the top right corner, you should see the status of the battery capacity and whether or not it is charging.

With the device turned off, do you see a green LED on the device when connected to the cig lighter or wall charger? It should be lit. If not, there may be a problem with the cable or connectors.

Does your cig lighter work? The gps device should continuously operate when connected to the lighter, regardless of the battery condition.

I assume you have the device continuously connected to the lighter when you are using the device. If not connected, you can extend the battery's operating time by turning down the volume and brightness, in preferences. Two hours capacity may be normal, depending on these settings and how old the battery is.

    I hope this helps.:smileysurprised:

I have just purchased a new TomTom Start 50, I have tried to charge it by using the USB port on my computer and also by the mains charger supplied, the unit does not appear to be charging either by USB or mains charger.

What makes you suspect that? Is the cable properly inserted into the device?

And why don't you think it is charging? Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds. Customer Service:

I have tried a reset, the reason I think it is not charging is because I have had it on charge now for about 2 hours and the battery indicator on the screen is showing the battery empty, that is why I believe that it is not charging, further to that this model was purchased a week ago and it was my intention to use it in a few days hence me wanting to make sure that the battery was charged.
