You folks need to lose the sense of entitlement. You didn't get lucky on a pricing error. What harm have you suffered? TomTom owns you nothing. Move on in life.I'M OUT MY PAYPAL PAYMENT  and there has been no action on a refund yet.

The Top Gear product appeared to be a unit that might not have failed to take off  in the US market. It was based on a BBC program few here had heard of. New models were on the way. Plus, add to that the predicted demise of the portable GPS market ... and it's reasonable to expect a fire sale or two. Our selfrighteous troll, who has no dog in this fight, is wrong. Had TomTom rejected my offer at checkout, I would have been irked but understanding.  But TomTom send out emails with "Payment Confirmations" and "Usage Instructions." I installed TomTom software on my PC (the unit was a gift for my wife)  and was told as late as Monday that I would get a tracking number in the next 24 hours. After cancelling, it lied abouit the issue. Apparently that is of no concern to the troll. But I hold myself to higher standards in both my personal and professional dealings. In my business life, I'd had to make concessions for mistakes. It happens.  It's no fun, but you bite the bullet and make things right.

Quote:"Don't play the innocent victim. You knew or ought to have have known this was a price error. Thus the responsibility for any deals that you may or may not have passed on fall squarely with you."We should have known it was an error? How's that Einstein, maybe you have some kind of special crystal ball you use on the web that blurts out. "Oh, wait that's a pricing error! Don't buy it it's too cheap!!" GPS's are listed all the time for well under $100 so $60 is NOT out of line, $40 would be a little questionable but $60 is believable especially for a second rate TomTom unit...I figured it was sponsor driven to get out the TopGear name but I'll still remain a fan of the show, I'll just not try a TomTom after this..They once were the standard but Garmin has 56% consumer and 58% commercial market share for a reason which will rise even further with debacles like this one... http://static.seekingalpha.com/uploads/2008/3/24/grmn2_resize.jpg

Name calling? I'm a troll because I disagree with your view of the situation?

Go read the terms of the contract you agreed to when you made the purchase, then go read your state and federal commerce laws. If you find a cluase that somehow supports your postion then state it here.

Until that time, keep crying and hoping tomtom will give you the bottle if it makes you feel better.

Maybe you need to read US law,it's wrong to charge a card without intending to fulfill an order. This is straight from the FTC website, Eh..."The Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) and the Mail or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule offer protections and procedures for consumers so they don't have to pay for merchandise they ordered but never received. In addition, many credit card issuers have policies against merchants charging a credit card account before shipment. If you think a merchant charged your account prematurely, report it to the credit card issuer. Otherwise, the credit card issuer has no way to know that the merchant is not complying with its policies."Full text here...http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre28.shtm

No need for name calling but still a bad move by TomTom.  Contract was made when they accepted payment and this is confirmed by their own legal contract terms (did you read them?).  Failure to own up on Tom Tom's part shows their true level of integrity (or lack thereof) as a company.  Look's like I'll be stickin with Garmin after all.

I agree.  I'm picking up a Garmin Nuvi 50LM today actually, and if in the future anyone asks my opinion before buying a GPS, I will only recommend Garmin.

I'm sure TomTom will pay a lot of attention to the Customer Satisfaction survey they sent yesterday. Surprisingly, there was no question: "We blew you off as a customer, but would you recommend us to others?"
