I love that he receives complaints about his stereotypes of Mexico and Scotland.  I'm from the US and we all bust up laughing when he referrs to Americans being fat.  If the UK does not want him we will have him over here in the US.  I would love it if TT would add a Jezza comment for US models for whenever we pass a McDonalds or other fast food place.

Why is it not possible to buy a tomtom now with the itinerary feature. I was hoping to be able to upgrade my tomtom one for the top gear live but as it has no itinerary function it will be useless and as such I will simoly be spending the £33 to upgrade the maps rather than waste £150 on a new tomtom such a shame.

You can add 4 waypoints to a trip but that's about it. Can't save the route as an Itinerary and certainly not 48 waypoints possible as with the older models............. :smileymad:

do any of the models have the ability to do itinerary planning? If not it looks like the upgraded maps for the tomtom one. Shame really as I was looking forward to getting a newer model with the bluetooth included

    Hi krusty

Unfortunately none of the newest device models have a full itinerary planning, hopefully TomTom will be developing this feature so it would make a come back in the future.

Is there really that much of difference between the US and UK edition???

    tttg_uk.jpg

    tttg_us.jpg

The US version has bigger screen, resistive screen, obviously 4GB of internal memory  and lifetime map update (in US)?!

    Hi Zsolt,

Thanks for letting us know :) The terminology for the screens is different between UK/US, however you're right in the fact that it's not a 5" display. We've reported it to webmaster :)

    Thank you,
    Ditte

    Hi Ditte,

Are you sure that it is not 5"? I've seen it at some other places as well, advertised with 5. I think it is based on a different unit, not the 820 in the US (2535?).

Here's one question, that I'd love TomTom to answer, but no one there has the ethical courage:

Since obviously this was a business calculation, why can't TomTom simply admit that they chose to totally alienate one group of customers (not potential customers because we ALREADY BOUGHT) and that I am in the group that they have blown off?

    Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

I put this on a credit card for the added protection.  At this point they still haven't taken off the authorization.

You folks need to lose the sense of entitlement. You didn't get lucky on a pricing error.  What harm have you suffered? TomTom owns you nothing. Move on in life.

Tomtom doesn't remove the authorization if it is pending.  That is the bank's doing.  Eventually, your bank will drop the pending charge after so many days.  Mine just did this morning.

Thanks for checking in Fanboy Troll: I ordered my unit as a gift, expecting it in 4-5 days. I passed up other deals than have since expired.  Instead, five days after processing my credit card, TomTom cancels my order. I call custoemr service and am lied to (TomTom intially claimed the price only showed at checkout ... until they realized that folks had cached copies of their ads.) So yeah, I am out something. And, yup, there are plenty of business models of companies, i.e., Zappos, doing the right thing. Entitled? Let's just say that TomTom is entitled to all the damage this does to its image. Penny wise, pound foolish.

Don't play the innocent victim. You knew or ought to have have known this was a price error. Thus the responsibility for any deals that you may or may not have passed on fall squarely with you.

You're acting indignant now in the hopes that Tomtom will throw you a bone to shut you up. I sincerely hope Tomtom gives you and your ilk nothing.

Fairly speaking, if they lost other deals because of this and Tomtom is holding (or the bank on behalf of Tomtom) their money, than they are right to be not the happiest ever. Why would they think it was a pricing error? Maybe Tomtom wanted to clear out the "old stock" to make space for the new stuff. Anyway, it is not nice again from Tomtom...

I originally saw the deal for the Top Gear edition. After researching the sponsorship issues with the product, I figured TomTom wanted to clear out its inventory of them. Therefore, the discounted price wasn't beyond the realm of possibility IMO.

    Oh well.
