MyDrive suggestions

Hi,

I don't really know where else to put this, but here are a few functions I would like to see in MyDrive.

- switch traffic info on/off: being able to switch off current traffic info when planning a route. I do not need any delays on a trip I will drive in a few days, on a different time. I want straightforward time/distance calculations, me and my TRUCKER 6000 will figure out the rest during the trip
- being able to switch an/off POI's/My Places on the map: I have various " My Places" across Europe I want to keep but don't want to see all the time, being able to switch them off would clear out the map. Finding these POI's when switched off would be done via the " My Places" list as they could be differently coloured, and on the map they would show as a very small bright dot, nothing more.
- being able to attach different labels and colors to the POI's across the map: would be nice to differentiate between a hotel and a raststätte

And as a general note, things are really getting better with MyDrive. I like the new smaller, lighter nav label currently in MyDrive. It inspired me to put down these suggestions. I had more, but misplaced my notes.

As to nav devices, in my case a TRUCKER 6000, and a community willing to help, add a log/screenshot button to the UI. I want to help correct wrong data, but I do not have the time nor the tools to log things while driving. Taking my phone out of the holder and make photos is not something I will do with 60 people watching me. Pressing a button on my nav device however, is completely normal. Connect those screenshots/logs to my device, my account and give me a headsup I uploaded data, so I can add my notes/suggestions to my log.
If you want to improve your product with help of the community ...... give them tools.

"I'll be back"

Cheers,
Jan.

No comments after 6 days. Is this the wrong place to put this? Is it boring, old news? No suggestions, tips? Tell me.

Hi Jan!
Thanks a lot for your feedback!

So, to understand this better: you don't want to bother to set up a future date for your trip, but also don't care about the current traffic delays, right? We could, indeed, completely disable traffic checking during route calculation. However, if there are any road closures currently, they will also be ignored, so this could be a nasty side effect is such closures are serious. Currently, if you use a time-date for your route, historical traffic will still be used, which it's still better than no traffic considerations at all.
Would you, perhaps, like to see quick travel times to any selected location without being in the route planner panel?

Actually we're already working on that under the hood 🙂 I can't tell you exactly when it will be released yet, but you'll have a little star toggle button to show or hide your favourites, thus de-cluttering your map if you have too many. We'll also bring the traffic incidents/flow toggles down there, so it's faster to toggle visual traffic as well on the map. By "down there" I mean together with the TripAdvisor category toggle buttons on the bottom of the map.

- being able to attach different labels and colors to the POI's across the map: would be nice to differentiate between a hotel and a raststätte

Regarding having labels, the newest mydrive version already supports labels on the map for your favourite locations, search results, and TripAdvisor locations. If you save new favourites from POIs, the POI name or your custom name should appear with it on the map.
Additionally, our next release will also allow to store TripAdvisor locations as favourites and stored itinerary (My Routes) waypoints, and you'll be able to see the TripAdvisor details again once you click on such items. Regarding custom colors and icons for favourites, we'll discuss it here to see how much we want to customize this. We used to allow for a limited set of colors for favourites in a previous application.
A future release will also support displaying waypoint labels on the map.

Cheers and thanks again for your ideas and suggestions!

Well not much to get back on really 2 months later. 😀 You guys move fast on the development of the various environments we customers use. Good work.

One thing. Please add raststättes along the European routes like you added restaurants, hotels and sighseeing POI. I would like to point you to Truckparking Europe [https://app.truckparkingeurope.com/?#/]. Maybe there is a business colab possible.

Cheers, Jan.

This feature is implemented in the meantime and works as I would like it to be. And just to be sure, I am talking about the planning phase where I want traffic and accident info to be switched off.

Sounds really good, and I like the new smaller favorites star, and the color is good too, sticks out.
One more thing I would appreciate, maybe as an option, categories. Being able to add POIs to various categories one can make oneself. I use raststätte while traveling [int. coach driver] and being able to switch them off, categorie wise would be great. Same for hotel, or parking spots, or hop on/off spots in various cities across Europe. And I am talking planning environment here, so MyDrive, not the TRUCKER 6000 I use. For me there is a great difference in use and required functionality between the MyDrive environment and the actual nav tool.

As stated above. Categories would have a similar result. See what is best to implement.
I do like the new added details on the route planning. Maybe something like this could be added to the POI section?

And as a side note. Could the added details on the route be accessed one step earlier then the moment one saves the route? I would like to be able to acces it when planning the route to be able to add various details, and make a change on these details easier reachable when I need to go back in.

Oh and ...... hurry up, my working season is approaching quick. 😉

Cheers and thanks again for your ideas and suggestions!

No thank YOU for the hard work and interaction with the community on development of the various tool(s).

I will use this thread to keep adding suggestions ...... if you don't mind.

Cheers.
