Hi all,

Today we have released a new version of MyDrive Connect. This release is limited to some operating systems as mentioned below:

MyDrive Connect v4.2.2.3561 for OS Windows 7 and above

MyDrive Connect v4.2.2.3559 for MAC OS X 10 and above

Whats new?

• You can now cancel downloads started in TomTom MyDrive Connect if you don't have time to wait for them. This feature is available for the devices using application version 18.2 or higher.

• Several performance improvements and bug fixes have been made.

Cheers,
lampard

Can I suggest that you provide a hotlink to take us through to the download - rather than us having to search. Thanks
can i also suggest making this available for app version 17.300 dated 12.10.2017. With latest map updates it is impossible to cancel individual updates and it is all or nothing. the NAV4 plus USA and Europe map updates seem to be too large to get from the computer to the device and keeps updating over and over again. Never stops. So this my drive 3561 is NOT any good and can not go back to any earlier versions.

Isn't it incredible? Download performance is so dire that you solve it by providing a cancel option rather than improving it. 😆

Hi
@Carminat

Tomtom can't win, they do what uses have requested a 'Download Cancel' button, so you have to come along, turn it on its head and take the pi55

we need an individual item cancel button but with 5 updates it seems to be all or nothing?

Hi
@nljj

Surely that's up to the individual... (I always install the updates separately)
Tomtom provide the option to download the updates as a global update or as individual updates
If you choose individual updates you can simply cancel the individual update
The exceptions are the Mandatory updates, you can't deselect those, but you can deselect the remaining none Mandatory updates (If any), then after the Mandatory updates have competed, download the remaining updates singularly or cancel them as required

Notice what the announcement says? “You can now cancel downloads if you don’t have time to wait for them”. Are you suggesting that users simply don’t want some downloads? My reading was that users find (as I do) that the download status shows such dreadfully slow progress that they can’t wait, so want to cancel and come back later when they’ve got the long time needed. My comment is that TT should take steps to improve the download speed so that users don’t get exasperated at the slowness of progress.

Hi
@Carminat

I can only speak as I find... It's very rare I ever have a problem updating my devices using MyDrive Connect

Broadband Virgin media 110 Mbps PC hardwired to Router
NAV4 Full Europe Map update around 7+ GB... 50/55 mins

My Wi-Fi connection is 40 Mbps, so I update NAV5 device over USB with MDC running on the PC
NAV5(Wi-Fi) Full Europe Map update around 8GB... 25 Mins

I too can only speak as I find. I have Virgin cable broadband at 70Mbps and that's the speed I also get download on WiFi on my iPhone.

I get exasperated waiting for my GO6200 to run an update - when I pick it up, it's because I'm going out on a call and 'they' want me there ASAP, so I just daren't accept an update on my desk. I have occasionally updated cameras and mapshare whilst driving, using my iphone as a hotspot, when it doesn't matter how long it takes (subject to 5GB data allowance). I simply believe TT should do something to improve the update speed - their service speed doesn't match my kit, heaven knows how people with lesser kit get on!

Hi
@Carminat

Never has any trouble with my Virgin cable broadband when it was at 50Mbps or 70Mbps... It just took a few minutes more to update compared to using the recent free Virgin upgrade to 100 Mbps (Speed checked at 110Mbps)

Here's a handy online download Speed/File Size/Time calculator....
http://www.download-time.com/

Results from the download Speed/Size/Time calculator
70Mbps... 15 Mins 13 Seconds
110Mbps... 9 Mins 41 seconds

The Europe Map for my NAV4 GO 5000 = 7.444 GB
My fibre Internet Connection = 110Mbps (Speed Test check)
110Mbps... The Europe Map... Download Only
9 Mins 48 Seconds (Using Stopwatch)

The full Download and Install, device ready to use 56 Mins 26 seconds

NAV5 GO 520/620 (Wi-Fi)... My Wi-Fi over Virgin Super Hub 40mb/s

Hi, after the last update of TomTom Mydrive Connect, my pc no longer recognizes my TomTom Go400. Therefore I can no longer make updates. In practice, the TomTom Go400 is no longer recognized by the PC and is not connected. I've been managing PC devices, but there's no entry to my TomTom. I hope you can help me as soon as possible. Thank you

Hi
@sasanik

Download & install the free version of Revo Uninstaller
Here... https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

(1)... Uninstall MyDrive Connect Using the Revo Uninstaller
Using Revo scans and removes all of the left over files a normal uninstall leaves behind
(2)... Clear your browsers cache
(3)... Restart your PC
Reinstall MyDrive Connnect (Without your Go400 connected)
Connect & Turn on your Go400... Login to MyDrive Connect

Yesterday, I started the Europe update of my GO6200, connected by USB, Virgin 70Mbps cable, and went downstairs to go do a bit of gardening. An hour and a half later, I got a call to go out, so I went to pick up my satnavs (I had already done the UKROI v1015 on my GO520 undefined] in the blink of an eye via TT Home). The 6200 icon said 55% done. I simply didn't have time to wait for it, so I hit the STOP button. In my innocence, I assumed it would, like most other similar circumstances with other software, both stop and suspend the download/installation, leaving me as before, with the older v1011 map. What a horror - No map!!! I had no option but to restart the update and go off to drive 350 miles using only my other satnavs - the NAV2 GO520 with UK&ROI v1015 and my built in Renault with map v1000 (Renault don't do updates very often - they don't seem to have heard TomTom's marketing about maps changing all the time!). So the lovely new STOP button works. But it leaves you in the mire, so what's the point of it? (And what's the point of the WIFI update? I did think maybe update using my iPhone as a Hotspot, but then I realised 8GB of map would use up more than my monthly 5GB data allowance. Thanks TT for a useless feature!)

That's what I mean when I offer criticism of a system which doesn't fix the slow update process, only allows you to stop it mid process. But worse, the stop doesn't suspend and pick up where it left off and doesn't revert to previous status, so it's a terrible "fix"!

Back ten years ago I used to admire TomTom's stuff. Not any more. I stick with them because it's better the devil I know than the devil I don't know, but what sort of recommendation is that?

Hi
@Carminat

The Stop button in the MyDrive Connect update, refers ONLY to the Download process for the Maps and updates for Nav4 devices

Once the actual Nav4 device 'Install/Update process' has started, you can't cancel the install

The NAV5 devices Update 'On the fly'... No Download/Decompress/Transfer over USB/install as the NAV4 Devices

On my NAV5(Wi-fi) GO 6200 I have UK&ROI, Europe, Oceania, USA Canada & Mexico
I hadn't yet updated the Europe Map
I connected the GO 6200 to USB with MD Connect running in the background
Started the update after 12 Minutes 46 Seconds the device reached 55%
I Tapped the 'Stop Button'

On the GO 6200, a full Screen, Splash screen appeared....
(Which you failed to mention in your post ???)

Saying...
STOP MAP UPDATE
If you stop now there may be no map installed
Are you sure you want to stop
YES .... NO

I would have thought the above was plenty of a warning for anyone !!!

I Tapped 'Yes' and indeed the Europe Map was not installed... The device started up as normal but using the 'Oceania' Map

I re-entered the Maps Menu...
Reinstalled the Full Europe Map in... 25 minutes 16 Seconds....

When I tried to update my "Europe" map (ca. 9GB) with MyDrive, it was aborted every time, sometime after hours, with the result that I had no map at all! After having wasted almost one day trying to update the map, the solution was to update via built-in WLAN, and that took 18 hours for said map (my DSL line is NOT that slow!)!!! In old TomTom HOME2 updates were reliable and fast, in HOME3 they are unreliable and terribly slow. (Despite of the fact that HOME2 displayed correctly and HOME3 (MDC) does not display correctly.

Well, this is pretty sucky. I opened MyDrive connect and it automatically started updating itself, and took a while to start up properly. Now it won't recognise my Go500.... and I've tried restarting everything, twice - device and PC.
Running Win10. MyDrive 4.2.2.3561.
What's going on.... do you guys test software updates before releasing them?
Pls advise a fix.
