Hello,

I need to buy new micro memory card to increase the memory for my TomTom Start 20. On the Tom Tom website regarding the cards is a note for recommended memory cards: MicroSDHC (Micro Secure Digital High Capacity): 4GB/8GB/16GB/32GB but in the Memory card type compatibility chart there is only Micro SD card no Miro SDHC.

I had some unrelated problems and was in touch with Tom Tom support and they seem to think that Micro SDHC card is OK. Its confusing that it is not clearly stated in Tom Tom own chart for recommended memory cards.

What I read on this forum it's always Micro SD card mentioned.

Since  SDHC cards are not backward compatible and devices that do not specifically support SDHC do not recognize SDHC memory cards could anyone clarify that TomTom Start 20 supports SDHC? And if yes what minimum speed it should have e.g. 4 is enough or 6 is required ? (I checked web and it seems that almost all Micro cards are SDHC now so it is even difficult to get Micro SD).

Thank you

It supposed to support SDHC Class 6 up to 32GB. I wouldn't recommend though anything larger than 8-16GB (pointless). I use an 8GB genuine SanDisk SDHC, works a treat.

I have a TomTom Start 25 and it has no slot for a memory card, or, at least, I haven't found one. I have in the internal memory the Europe map and therefore there is not enough memory for installing another map (e.g. US). Please tell me where is the slot for the SD card, or what I can do to have another map in this device.

    Thank You

    Hi amdamonte,

you'll find the slot covered by a small cap either on the bottom or on the back of the device. On many devices it can be found near the USB socket.

    Lars.

    Hi Andamonte,

The slot for CD card on Start 20 is in small depression where the cable is connected. Presuming Start 25 is similar, unplug the cable and you should see small cover for SD card. Hope it helps!

Many thanks to Lupus1 and Z2012. I could never dream where the SD slot was hidden. Maybe I have not read the manual to the end. Thanks again.

    Hi ascent,

    Welcome to the forum!

I am afraid only SD-cards ( no SDHC) up to 2GB are supported:

    http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2634

If the map has become to big for your memory due to updates, map zones will be offered to install:

    http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12185/kw/map%20zones

You can change the zone with TT Home when over you want.

    Greetings

    Andreas

Is the GO300 not one with 3GB internal storage? I recall something like a 4GB Compact Flash card in that one, and I think it used to work with certain 8GB CF cards also (by replacing the original).

GO300 should have no internal memory, only SD. The GO700 have 2,5GB internal memory. Maybe you have this in mind?

But I might be wrong as well ...

You need a micro sdhc card with that device, the faster the speed (class 6+), the better.
