I received the message saying there is not enough room on my TomTom Via to download updates.  The solution given is to insert memory card. There is no slot into which to insert a memory card on my TomTom Via. How else can I download updates when there is not enough room?  Is there a way to offload the data/maps that are in the TomTom now to make room?  I saw the little boxes that allow things to be removed and to be added, but nothing showed up in the boxes.  Thanks, Elaine

I just got a Via 1400M and got the same message.  It says I have 2.9gb used and 800mb available, but won't let me update the new USA v9.00 map.  There is an sd slot on mine, but I see no reason to have to buy an sd card as soon as I get the thing.  On my XL, there was no slot and it just replaced the old map with the newer version.

Technically it supposed to do the same with this one also. Do you have the v895 map at the moment and did you use the map correction updates?

I do have the v895 map but have not used the map corrections updates.  I checked that option and it wanted me to enable my information sharing, which I wasn't really wanting to do.  I tried removing something from my device but it only lets me select the quick gps fix to remove.

I turned on map correction and selected only corrections by TomTom, but it still saying I don't have enough room.  I would take the current map off of it through Windows, but I can't find it like I could my XL 350.

You won't. The new devices are network adapters, not USB storages. Either the memory card or customer services.

I was able to get mine fixed to take the new v900 map without putting an sd card in.  Here is part of the email which TomTom support sent me.  Mine worked fine after I did this:

    1) Uninstall the MyTomTom software from your computer:

i)Disconnect your device to the computer
ii) Click on Computer on your computers desktop
iii) Click on the internal drive of your computer (C or E drive)
    iv) Click on Program Files
    v) You should see a folder names MyTomTom3
vi) On the next page, you should see the contents of MyTomTom. Double click the option Uninstall MyTomTom3

This will uninstall MyTomTom from your computer.

Once done, you can reinstall the MyTomTom software using the Google Chrome browser for better results, then connect your device to get updates.

You can then open the following link using the Google Chrome and re-install MyTomTom software:

Also make sure Chrome has all it's plugins up to date.  You can check these by going here:

    Hope this helps.

i have now too that same problem and uninstalling/installing mytomtom doesn't help.

i have now two full europe maps 8.90 (in via125) and 9.00 (in pc) and when i try to update via125 i get error : not enough room. then it shows a popup to select maps and then i select uninstall of 8.90 and install of 9.00 but nothing happens (install wheel spins 2-3 seconds and nada)..

i cant delete old map because it says i must have at least 1 map and therefore i cant install a new one :D endless loop :D

I had the same problem recently and found that you can not have more than one TomTom on your account.  I had both a stolen one and the replacment on the same account (different models and lifetime update codes).  Only the first and therefore oldest one can successfully get the updates.  If you possibly have multiple units, this could be your problem.  Support had to manually update my account to delete the old unit and make the new one the only one.  Then, updates worked correctly and the TomTom automatically deleted the old map and intalled the new one.

i tried... it does nothing right now so i cant move any map anywhere... when i put back my old 2gb sd card errors come back and i could move maps but it cant because of low space errors... when i put back 4gb i get no erros but nothing happens  :D

edit: numerous tries and i finally got it so far that i can select via125 internal memory or sd card. but none of the maps will install in sd card and problem still continues...

mail to the support sorted it out...
i did have many years ago a tomtom xl and my "account" now was fooled about it and support manually deleted old xl and updated account with newer "via125" and everything works now.

thanks every one that did try to help and thanks to support ! :)
