Hi

I have a Tom Tom Live 820, when I turned it on this morning it says No M maps Found

Can anyone please advise me how to get my map back on? I have looked in my tom tom, but it says map already installed, so not giving me the option to reinstall

Many thanks

David

Try this:

1. Hold the ON/OFF button, until it reaches the info screen (black screen, white text)

2. After entering the info screen press the ON/OFF button 3 times quickly (it should be 3 presses within one second)

3. The device restarts and only shows a cogwheel, it just entered in the 'recovery mode'

4. Make sure to connect the TomTom device to the computer (so it can download the 'last known good application' for your device)

5. Wait until you see picture of a TomTom (red x) and a laptop, then switch off the TomTom unit

6. Then reset the device, and it should start up normally

7. Wait 5 minutes

Then you can try this as well, to make sure all up to date:

http://discussions.tomtom.com/t5/TomTom-GO-800-1000-2000-Via/SOLUTION-for-the-GPS-SIGNAL-issue/m-p/202399/message-uid/202399#U202399

- Try to disable your antivirus and firewall, use Firefox, and make sure that your computer is not going into stand-by or similar.
- Clear the cache before each update attempt. Also could do a soft reset before and after the update.
- Make sure you have the latest Adobe Flash Player and Java installed.
- Make sure you have all the latest updates and hotfixes/patches to your OS.
- In case the device looks like hung during the update or the counter stopped, just leave it. It will be fine in a few minutes.
- Check your network connections, make sure that the TT's network adapter is enabled
- Try to uninstall and re-install the MyTomTom application

- Any further issue: Try it on another PC, try it with different USB lead (below steps are Windows specific)
- Whilst the device connected, remove the drivers from the Device Manager (Windows/Control Panel), DELETE the drivers
- Remove the MyTomTom application and run CCLEANER (will remove your history, cookies, etc by default)

Hi, does this instruction also work for a Tom Tom Go 920?

I have been having difficulties for months with downloading and installing a new map i purchased.

After succesfully downloading, I then encountered No Maps found - but when the device is connected to the pc (tom tom home version 2.9), it shows the map as being on the device.

I followed an instruction to repeat the download of the map again (after removing traces of haviong done this before) and even though the download process eventually worked for me, I am still getting the No Maps found message on  my device.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated, as I have spent numerous hours trying to getr this sorted.

    Thanks.

*Always make sure that you are logged in with the correct account to the TomTom HOME application*

Try to run the Clear Flash Tool 3 times:

    http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6178/

    Further steps if no luck:

Try to do a soft reset first. Either a pin hole on the bottom, or press and hold the on button, until you hear the drum roll (if your device has no pin hole).

If the above worked, happy days, if not, try the one below:

    1. Save everything from the device, using Explorer (or Finder on Mac), include all the files (hidden as well). It is also known as a manual backup: http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13354/

    2. Then format the internal storage (or memory card, depending which one you use) of your device. Use the COMPLETE format, not the quick. http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12412/

    3. Go to TT HOME, Manage my "DEVICE", delete everything from the hard drive and try the update again.

    4. Copy your voices and post codes back to the device (also the maps if that didn't download either).

    Other tips:

    - Try to disable your antivirus and firewall
    - Make sure you have the latest .NET cpmponents, Adobe Flash Player and Java installed.
    - Make sure you have all the latest updates and hotfixes/patches to your OS.
    - In case the device looks like hung during the update or the counter stopped, just leave it. It will be fine in a few minutes.
    - Try to uninstall and re-install the TomTom HOME application
    - Try to use a USB port on the mainboard, rather than a USB hub (desktop PC)

    - Any further issue: Try it on another PC, try it with different USB lead...the shorter the better (below steps are Windows specific)
    - Remove the TomTom HOME application and run CCLEANER (will remove your history, cookies, etc by default)

Good evening - well not such a good evening - very frustrating indeed....

Having spent over 2 hours loading and purchasing the new map updates - and paid AUD 69.97 - even though it was advertised on your site as costing AUD 39.95,

My TOM TOM Go 730 navigation device now shows:

    NO MAPS FOUND!

Why has this process wiped my Tom Tom clean of all existing maps?

Why have the new updates NOT occured?

Why have I been charged for this hopeless, non-existant  map update service?

What is the phone number of customer support, so I can personally speak to a real person who can help me with this problem?

Please advise ASAP as I am not at all impressed with your map update lack of service.

    Lost driver!

    4. Copy your voices and post codes back to the device (also the maps if that didn't download either).

    Other tips:

    - Try to disable your antivirus and firewall

The price might be different if you didn't have the latest map on the device, before you've purchased a map update service. It needs to bring the map to the latest, than can apply the update service.

    Hello there,

I have trawled through the forum looking for an answer but I have come to a dead end..

The dreaded 'No maps found' has appeared, so I have tried clearing the cache, resetting, all of that, I even bought a new map but that didn't work.

I have also tried using the Clear Flash Tool but that doesn't finish as it should and I get tothis message ..  'Please connect the power supply to your TOMTOM and switch ON your TOMTOM. Next, make sure your TOMTOM is connected to your computer' .. And my TT is plugged into the USB and there is no memory card in the TT so it can't be that..

I'm using my iPad for Sat Nav duties now, but it takes up all the windscreen!

    Thanks for any help

    Hi,

I bought a new map update yesterday and (successfully?) downloaded it to my PC and then started to install it on my GO Live 825.  It got to 10% and then I had message saying the connection to the server was lost.  The only screen I can get on my device now is "No maps found".  I have been through all the reboot suggestions, emptied the cache three times, tried the re-install again and still it won't install, or starts and then disconnects from the computer.  Please, can anyone help.  I have a satnav which is unusable and I've paid for a map which I can't install!

    I have to rant here.

I have just finished (I think) updating my TomTom Via 1500, and I have NEVER seen a site or a process as useless as this.

It is now 10:45 in the evening, and I started this process before supper. Ridiculous.

I'm leaving on a trip in 3 days, and thought I would be pro-active with my updates. Right.

BTW, the last update I did was earlier this year to fix the "no-can-see-satellites" problem.

Even though it "fixed" the problem, it still took my unit up to 15 minutes to lock onto a signal....regardless of where I was.

That's pretty useless when I'm only going to a location 10 minutes away.

Regardless, I fired this sucker up today (after 3 months of sitting in a drawer), and fought it the whole way.

It took me 3 tries of loading and uninstalling and then re-loading of the My TomTom software before it would open and "see" my unit.

Prior to that, I negotiated the web site of our beloved TomTom, looking for the right thing to do, and have found it to be one of the WORST websites I have ever used. It is bloody awful. In this day and age, you'd think that a Company like TomTom would find a web designer that knows what he/she is doing.

Also, does anyone else not think it's ridiculous that we, the Customer and end user, have to go through all these jumps and hoops, just to get a $150.00 piece of electronics to work properly? So much for plug and play.

Tom Tom should be embarrassed to make us go through this crap. Whatever happened to KISS?

    Oh well, onwards and upwards.

Next GPS I buy will not be a TomTom, that's for sure. Actually, when I think of it, portable GPS' will give way to smart phones and in-car units in the future anyway, so I won't need to buy another one.

    Cheers, from Canada.

Then you should spend more time reading my posts, and you will find that what you just said is not even remotely true.

Going into personal comments will not help your update issues. It is like I caused your problem at any level...

If you want TomTom to solve your issues, why are you coming to a community forum, where we users try to help each other? I know it will sound like a Sci-Fi for you, but we really are not working for TomTom, and not even on their payroll. Otherwise your problems would be sorted beforehand. The "solutions" we offer are coming from experience (either our own or other users on the forum). Nobody said it is acceptable to do this and that, and yes, it should work just out of the box, but sh*t happens. You've got a few choices at this point. One is to get answers from other users. If it didn't work for you, you have other choices (contacting TT support, exchanging your device, get another brand, whatever).

So really the sentence you are looking for is: Thank you guys for tips, unfortunately didn't work for me.

Zsolt, I couldn't help but do a bit of math. 10,000 posts since Oct 2011. That translates to an average of about 21 posts a day. Assume each post takes 10 minutes, that's approx. 3-4 hours a day posting stuff on this site. Add to that the time spent reading other posts, and I'm assuming you're on here for up to 6-8 hours...A DAY!!. If you're not an employee of TomTom, then you have a serious problem with your personal life. I strongly suggest you get out of the house and see the world, or maybe get a job, or SOMETHING. 6 hours a day on a TomTom forum is unhealthy, to say the least. Get a life buddy. Don't take this as an insult either. I really feel for you. You need help.

Do the maths again. One post 10 minutes??? Gosh...I hope not :) That would be really said. Most of my posts take less than 10 seconds, and luckily I read very fast. Believe me, I have a full time daytime job (sometimes night) and family with two kids. Pretty busy days though :) No worries, I don't spend anything close to that here (but a lot, that's true). And millions of other things as well. Sleeping wise could do a bit better though ;)

Hey, thanks for the update and clarifications. Also, I have to apologize for ragging on you so much. Sorry.

As for the latest on my GPS, I just came back from a week in Vegas (which was why I wanted to update my unit and take it with me).

The first time I turned it on after I got my rental car, it took 2 HOURS before the **bleep** thing locked onto a satellite signal.

2 freekin' hours is totally unacceptable. I left it turned on while parked, out in the open, in a shopping mall parking lot.

The rest of the week was better, but it never took less than about 5 minutes to lock on.

Even then, it would lose the signal once in a while while driving around. Very frustrating.

I never had this problem with my previous unit (a Garmin).

BTW, I plugged it into my computer and turned it on, and it took another ten minutes to find the signals.

It has just now locked on while typing. Arrgghh.
