Question: Via 53 - Route assistance

Having just purchased this I am having one or two problems. The question relates to route assistance.
On my previous device (GARMIN) if I set a route and I happen to miss a turning or go off the selected
route the device would say RECALCULATING. With my new device it doesn't do this.

The side bar does show it recalculating but you have to be looking at the device to see it which isn't
always possible. I know it will put you back on route but in most cases it is best to try and rectify and
go back on your original route.

I called support and they have told me the device does tell you it is recalculating if you go off route,
is this correct ?

I have only had it a week and time and date was wrong, and voice control wasn't working, everytime I call
all I get told to do is do a full reset and they have told me to do this YET AGAIN !

Any help would be appreciated.

    [b]Read aloud early instructions[b]
    For example, if you switch on this setting, you could hear early instructions such as "'After 2 km
    take the exit right" or "Ahead, turn left".
    Note: When a recorded voice is chosen, you see only this setting because recorded voices
    cannot read out road numbers, road signs, etc.


    So make sure you are using a computer voice such as "Serena"

    Thanks Niall but I am referring to when I miss a turn or junctions and the device letting me know. Read aloud early instructions I get and is fine, this is a different issue.

    Sorry about the incorrect information provided by the customer service. The voice guidance on the device will not speak or announce when recalculating the route.

    I had a look at the contact history on your account and I was not able to find an incident number for your contact with customer service.

    If you have used a different email address other than the one used for this forum then please send me the incident number through a PM so I can follow up with them.

    Thanks for the response all though disappointing to hear different from what I was told and that this doesn’t exsist
    on the device.

    There is no record showing as I called your support line I didn’t email hence there is no record.

    May not be what you want to hear but, when I came to purchase a SatNav, the reason I chose TomTom over Garmin was that I didn't want to hear all the back chatter. That definitely included all that "Recalculating"!

    In my experience if you make a mistake, or simple choose to ignore the prompted route, my (NAV 3) TomTom simply gets on with the 'recalculating' silently and advises you appropriately based on the current position.

    It's not a major problem and if it was continually saying recalculating then clearly I shouldn't be behind the wheel it was more to do with being on motorways and if a turning was missed. I know it takes you back onto the correct route but sometimes that can be a longer route.
    It was handy to have and with all the technology and just like the other other sounds you have options to turn these on and off so being able to have that option would have been nice.
