Question

POI's functionality of the Professional 6200

Utterly disappointed, nope disgusted at the functionality of the Professional (haha) 6200.
The POI function is pathetic. This is supposed to be top of the range coach/lorry satnav and yet you cant store POI's!!!!! Forums tell me I can only store 255 MyPlaces!! I've tried importing .OV2 files with ridiculous results.

Complete waste of money. My first TomTom I bought 8/9 years ago has more functions

DO NOT PURCHACE AT ANY COST!!

Hi
@CoachDriverPorky
No trouble importing POI here....
I have several Tomtom devices ALL of them have 100+ individual POI Categories installed
Many of the 3rd party POI Categories have many thousands of POI locations
I have also created and loaded personal POI Categories which were easier to use than a very long list of MyPlaces but after a recent update the Myplaces list is now searchable

ATB YFM
As you said, you have to keep creating them. You can’t simply add another place to a POI category from the satnav. It’s diabolical
MyPlaces are not searchable even tho the device is fully up to date. You have to scroll down 250 saved places before you get to the POI listing. Aargh! It’s rubbish
Stored POI’s do not show in the Search facility. Why?? Such basic stuff. I hate this product with a passion!! £350 wasted. It’s not fit for purpose

Hi

You can search for POI's within your POI files.

Tap 3Dots
Select My Places
Select POI file you have added that you want to search.
Search facility appears with the POI file you have selected to search.
You can change Whole Map to Near me, Near Destination Etc

@CoachDriverPorky
The MyPlaces list is searchable... The MyPlaces appear on the right-hand side of the Search screen
Say in MyPlaces you have...
Costa Worcester
Costa Bromsgrove
Costa Droitwitch
Costa Bridgnorth

Tap 4Dot (.... menu) Icon --> Tap Search type 'C' and a list of MyPlaces starting with the letter 'C' will appear on the right-hand side of the Search screen
Either continue to type 'Costa b' and the Costa Bromsgrove an Costa Bridgnorth outlets will display at the top of the list
Tap the blue keyboard Icon screen bottom right to clear the keyboard and display the list
Or
Tap 4Dot (.... menu) Icon --> Tap Search type 'C' and a list of MyPlaces starting with the letter 'C' will appear on the right-hand side of the Search screen continue to type 'Costa
Tap the blue keyboard Icon screen bottom right to clear the keyboard and a full list of costa outlets will dissplay

PS... Tap 4Dot (.... menu) Icon --> Tap Search type say 'T' on the right-hand side of the Search screen will be all of your MyPlaces beginning with 'T'
But on the left-hand side of the Search screen will be a list of your recent destinations beginning with 'T'
Don't forget to Tap the blue keyboard Icon screen bottom right to clear the keyboard and display the list

Hi
@CoachDriverPorky
You can show the individual POIs of a POI category on the search screen as a list
You can search for an individual POI within a POI category during a search
You can show the individual POIs of a POI category on the search screen Map

See Tomtom video for using MyDrive... The loading of POI's starts at 2Minutes 10Seconds.....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIs5tGFhQIA

For example... I have loaded the 3rd party POI's for the National Trust... To show the POI's for "National Trust" on the map, work your way down to option (2)

From the main screen
Tap (....)4Dot Icon (Screen Bottom left)
Swipe left or Tap the mid/right edge of the screen to go to and tap the MyPlaces Icon
Scroll down and select the required POI Category For example "National Trust"
You now have three options
The Main search area turns blue and "National Trust" is offered with a flashing cursor
Continue typing the name of the required "National Trust" site, Type dud(maston) (Or as much of the word that's required for Dudmaston Hall appear at the top of the National trust list
Tap on Dudmaston Hall and select the Drive Icon

You also have two further options.....
After the initial "National Trust" POI selection
There's a dual Icon (screen bottom right) with Three Lines and Two circles

(1)..... Tap the three Lines Icon (bottom right screen) and a scrollable list will appear of the "National Trust" sites in distance order

(2)...... Tap the Two circle Icon for the "National Trust" sites POI's to appear on the screen (Pinch zoom for detail) (Note..... On the Start range its easier to tap the plus and minus buttons to zoom the map screen)
as far as I'm aware it will show the nearest 60ish POI's around your location

There is also a Keyboard Icon (screen bottom right) to return to the search window from the options (1) and (2)

The POI Icons are generic and dynamic the Icons change with the zoom level
If your searching for a 3RD party POI Category say a "Burger King" restaurant, the displayed generic Icons will all be for "Burger King" so using the present system you don't need the "Burger King" Logo

You can of course tap one of the generic Icons to open a quick menu
With the name of the POI... The option to Drive there
Plus a 3Dot Quick Menu Icon with further options

The Professional (haha) 6200 does not even allow you to check what services are on route!! An absolute MUST for lorry and coach drivers to plan their breaks. Complete waste of £350. Not fit for purpose

I have the 'Key Fuels' POI Catagory installed

Plan and calulate the Route

Tap whole Map Icon (Screen top right)
Select 'Along the Route'
The first 'Key fuel' POI along the route is at the top of the list
Tap the Blue keyboard Icon... Screen bottom right for the full list of 'Key fuel' POI along the route

There's also is a Dual function Icon with '2 Circles' & '3 lines'

Tap the '2 Circle' Icon next to the Blue keyboard Icon for the search map... Pinch zoom and scroll the Map to see the 'Key fuel' Icons along the route
Tap the '3 lines' Icon to return to the full list 'Key fuel' POI along the route
Tap the Blue keyboard Icon to return to the Planning screen

Thank you for reply but you are still missing the point. This cost £350! It is the Professional (haha) 6200.
It does not have fundamental functions that a Professional driver requires.

You cannot edit POI’s from the satnav. You have to own a computer. Basic stuff.

It does not automatically show rest areas in the side bar to help Professional drivers plan their legal breaks. BASIC STUFF

When ‘searching’ it does not list POI’s in the results I.e. all the places a Professional drivers saves at each destination. BASIC STUFF

My my point is you have to keep MANUALLY checking where you can stop which changes constantly with traffic flow. I DRIVE for a living and can’t stop every five minutes to alter my satnav!!

My POI’s can only be accessed through My Places and then and ONLY THEN after scrolling through 250 saved favourite places!!! Aargh!! IT IS EXTREMELY TIME COMSUMING when planning from one POI to another. Something I have to do 20-30 times a day as a professional driver. BASIC STUFF

This is not built for ‘Professional’ drivers. It is a very basic satnav that has a ‘Low Bridge’ and ‘weight’ facility built in. Something I could have done loading FREE POI’s on my old satnav. IT IS NOT WORTH £350 AND IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE AS IT IS NOT DESIGNED AROUND A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER AS THE NAME SUGGESTS.

Rest areas can be shown automatically as can some POIs.

See Settings -> Appearance -> Route bar
Doesn’t work. If you plan a route from Stevenage to Dover you pass four services. South Mimms, Thurrock, Maidstone & Gateway. Not a single Rest Area is shown in sidebar. This is BASIC stuff for a Professional Driver. I could have bought a satnav for £100 and painted the words ‘Professional’ on it and saved myself £250. The 6200 is the biggest waste of money going. Mis-sold. Completely ripped off

If the services are directly on your route and they are not showing there's certainly something wrong. Perhaps they are after an exit?
The Services are within 20 metres of the motorway with possibly the exception of Thurrock. These are MAJOR services and don't appear on route. How TomTom have the cheek to call this 'Professional' is beyond me
I've noticed YamFazMan (TomTom Employee) has stopped responding as I've proved the failings of TomToms software. looking at the Forum, This has been going on for over a year .Stuck with a product that is not fit for purpose. Once you've called them out they label you as a 'troll'

I fully agree the software needs improving. But YamFazMan is NOT an TomTom employee. I plan to stop responding as well at this point.

The devices we are discussing here and those of the competitors really are consumer versions regardless of "Professional" in their names. They have similar failings, though probably there will be some improvement over time if the consumer end of the companies survive. The true professional products -- made by TomTom and competitors -- DO exist and are mostly beyond our reach.
I would suggest this ‘Professional’ device at £300+ is beyond most people’s reach. The only difference between a £70 satnav and this one is the ‘special POI’s’ which you can add yourself for FREE. In fact, the £70 one you can edit the POI’s on the device without the need of a stupid computer!! The 6200 is appalling and TomTom know it. I’ve read hundreds of complaints dating back over a year and TomTom have done NOTHING. Disgusted at their false advertising and disgusted at their so called customer service
