I have translated the news on this subject from a Dutch TT site and is as follows:
Today Corinne Vigreux, managing director Consumer within TT gave the following information.
From October this year new Search and Go Live Services will be introduced to the TT line. These services are special versions of popular search engines like Twitter, Expedia, Tripadvisor and Yelp. For drivers this means on-line services and the best routing to destinations.
Expected time of arrival on destination can now for example be twittered (to your followers). You can select or deselect this Twitter-function. The service will give you access to travel- and sparetime websites.
Expedia makes it possible to compare accommodations with each other and make your best choice.
Tripadvisor and Yelp give you access to actual independent judging of restaurants, hotels, welnesscenters and theatres.
It will all seamlessly work together with the map- and navigation technology of TomTom.
After having made your choice for a hotel, automatically the best route (with IQ) will be chosen by your device.
There will be no extra costs involved as stated right now!
Start in October will be in the USA, Germany and New Zealand. They will act as "testing"-countries.
Timescale for further release is not known yet.
On a German TT site I just read that it will start for the TT-Live devices based on Android like the TT1000, TT 1005, TT 820 and 825 and Via Live (or their International equivalents like the 2535).
Perhaps this has something to do with the updates all of us received;) .
And don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger...:D
