Question

No Maps Found - and no connection to download new one!


I have a Start 25 which I have been using for several years with few problems. It is normally updated weekly.
The latest update involved downloading a new Europe map, so it was a big one. It was interrupted, and the Start25 would not then restart properly.
After various disconnections, computer shutdowns etc., it eventually started to show "No Maps Found" - and the memory card which had contained the map is indeed empty.
I should be able to use MyDrive Connect to download the map again, and sort the problem that way - but although the map is shown as available in MyDrive Connect I can't download it because the Start 25 doesn't connect to the PC. It starts the connection process, and shows as connecting, and then shows as Not Connected.
I've tried it on another Windows 10 computer with the same result.
I've gone through all the procedures outlined in FAQ, including uninstalling/reinstalling MyDrive Connect, and trying to update the driver. But I cannot see a driver in Device Manager.
My computer runs Win 10 Home 64-bit, fully updated.
Nothing significant on the computer has changed since the device was working and updating normally.

Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds. Then connect and see if MDC works now.

As I indicated above, I've gone through all the recommended procedures from the relevant bit of FAQ's, and that includes the soft reset you suggest. Made no difference.

Have you tried these below including different USB port?

• Do you have anti-virus software installed? If yes, you should disable it before downloading map updates, and re-enable it after a few minutes.

• You should start MyDrive Connect before connecting your device to the PC.

The problem is that the Start 25 won't connect, not that the map won't download. I have already followed some of the tips you quote.
I will look at the tips involving connection problems in the morning, and post the results - positive or negative.

I have now officially given up. None of the helpful suggestions above worked, and I've come to the conclusion that there is a fault with the GPS or its cable. I have therefore replaced it with a new one - free lifetime map updates mean it should pay for itself in a couple of years.
