Hi, I have just updated my iPhone 5 to IOS 8 and now the phone will not connect to my tomtom. Is this a known issue?

Just an update, after taking everyone's great advice I decided to completely wipe and reset the phone. Doing this has worked but t's not ideal as I have to reinstall all my apps and music.

I get the same problem with the phone flicking from connected to not connected.
Refreshing Bluetooth connection doesn't work. I think its to do with the Pairing code as I don't get the opportunity to add it on my phone when making a connection.

    Hi all,

Let's try some basic troubleshooting first, shall we? Please, see the link below to delete your phone from the device and then try pairing it again:

    http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/new_GO/html/en-gb/index.htm#Deletingphones.htm

You might also need to (factory) reset your device: http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/new_GO/html/en-gb/index.htm#System.htm

Please, get back to me here to tell how it went and we'll take it from there.

    Cheers, Mikko

    Hi Tez,

    Thanks for getting back!

Can you describe your issue in a bit more detail, please? Are you able to connect your phone, but it then looses the connection or are you unable to connect at all? Can you describe the steps you're taking and what exactly happens?

Did you do factor reset as well?

    Cheers, Mikko

Hi, I can pair the tomtom to the phone with no issues. The tomtom then momentarily connects to the phone then disconnects.

Hi, just to also clarify I have deleted the tomtom from my iphone, rebooted the phone then done a factory reset on the tomtom and re pairs the tomtom with the phone. It pairs and connects to the phone for a few seconds then disconnects. Once disconnected the tomtom reconnects again then disconnects again then repeats.

GO500 with iPhone 4s and iOS8 worked first time for me. Didn't even need to turn TT off and on again, just woke from sleep. Connected straight away and have used on a couple of trips.

Not sure if that helps or not?! :)

My Phone is the iPhone 5 not the C or S so it would be good to know if anyone has got it working with that particular phone.

It should not matter which phone you have as the IOS is exactly the same for everyone. Is Personal hot spot turned on?

    Hi Tez,

I'm glad to hear you got it sorted!

I suppose your iOS update changed some settings on your phone you didn't find/notice. Such a drastic measure shouldn't be needed here.

For other encountering similar problems, I'd recommend the following procedures:

Delete the phone from our device [User guide]
Factory reset your device [User guide]
    - Reset the device by pressing and holding down the power button until you hear a drumming sound (ca 15 sec)

    - Reset your phone yb holding down the Home button and on/off button until you see the Apple logo on the screen
    - Make sure Personal Hotspot is enabled on your phone [iOS8 user guide page 39]

Should this not solve your issue, please contact Customer Service.

    Cheers, Mikko

Edit: Added phone reset to the troubleshooting advise.

As you say this is drastic action to HW reset your Phone to get a Bluetooth connection back to a GO500.
My phone is an iPhone 5 (not C) and has been connected for the last 6 months without issue.
I have deleted the Bluetooth Pairing, Factory Reset my GO500 and tried to connect again with the same fault.
Bluetooth connects then goes in a cycle of Phone connected - Phone Disconnected messages on the GO500.
