I recently downloaded the USA maps on to my Tom Tom 50/5 Start specifically to go on holiday as we were doing a lot of motoring. Half way through the holiday the USA map totally disappeared. Completely useless and pretty inconvenient/ What is the point of paying for maps if they last 5 days. ON my account it says the map is good until 5th May - rubbish its gone.

Hi Tods,

Welcome to the Community!

According to our logs there was a failed attempt to update the map but afterwards it was updated successfully. Our system is not recognising a memory card in your device and the map is installed in the internal memory. I'd recommend you to remove the memory card from the device and reset your device once more as dhn advised above.

Cheers, Mikko

Try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds. See if the map reappears then.

I've tried that - nothing. I am actually wondering if the memory card has suddenly failed. I had to install one to fit all the maps on when I wanted to add USA. Now when I connect to my comp and try and reinstall the USA map it says I haven't got the space although the memory card is still in there exactly as it was when I installed everything. Could this fail do you think?

Possible. If you have a computer access, you could try to format the card in a card reader as FAT32 and reinsert into device and try to download map again from MyDriveConnect.

Also, if in the States now, you might try their CS number:

I tried to load the USA map originally and it said there was no room. I then bought a memory card and the whole thing loaded fine and worked in the USA for 5 days without any problem until it failed. So why you have no record of me loading it and there being a memory card in place I have no idea. This is rubbish. I paid for these USA maps and they did not last the duration they are supposd to.

Hi - thanks - I am now returned and will try what you suggest on the card reader. The maps expire anyway in May and I don't need them any more as have returned. But it was inconvenient to say the least in the middle of Boston when it suddenly fails!!!

I may need to reload maps in the future so would be useful to get memory card sorted if this is the problem - thanks again.
